Each year, Sampson Community College (SCC) nominates and selects students to serve as official ambassadors to the College and the SCC Foundation through the Foundation’s Ambassador Scholarship Program. This year, six student leaders were chosen to serve as ambassadors for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Established in 2010 by the SCC Foundation, the College’s Ambassador Scholarship Program provides selected individuals with funding for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters that can be applied towards tuition, fees, supplies, and books. Potential ambassadors are nominated by SCC faculty and staff and interviewed by a selection committee at the College.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time; complete at least one semester prior to the ambassadorship term; maintain a GPA of 3.0; and possess good interpersonal and leadership skills.

Upon appointment, SCC Ambassadors also become “the face of SCC,” assisting with college-sponsored events including student registration and orientation, donor recognition events, graduation, and other Foundation affairs.

Congratulations to the following student leaders who were selected to serve as 2023-2024 SCC Ambassadors:

  • Amalia Aguilar
  • Armando Avenlino-Ortiz
  • Ruth Vasquez Iglesias
  • Jesus Montes
  • Stefany Serrano
  • Cherilyn Williams

Lisa Turlington, Dean of Advancement & Executive Director of the SCC Foundation, anticipated, “I look forward to working with and getting know the 2023 Ambassadors over the next year. I met all of them for the first time during the interview process, and they all have truly unique stories of how they came to be students at Sampson. They are an impressive group of student leaders.”

Sampson CC is excited to welcome this new group of student ambassadors for the 2023-2024 year. The College is proud of their accomplishments thus far and looks forward to seeing all they will do to help both SCC, the Foundation, and its students succeed.
